It was the most challenging event I have done, and at times, when I felt low, I remembered all the people who are supporting the event and the vast sum reached already. My thanks go out to Cleveland Police Officers Mick Watson and Kev Keay, who helped us through safely without injury. The support of Buell® Brand Manager Andrew McIndoe, who supplied all the bikes and also successfully did this with us, was much appreciated. So too was the participation of Harley-Davidson's Nick Colledge, who ended up going to Land's End via Plymouth!
Newcastle Harley-Davidson's Allen Glasper rode with us and support vehicle driver Eric Ree was always where we needed him to be. Thanks also to all the dealership staff who prepared the bikes prior to departure and those who looked after the business while we were away. Greg Holmes was our guide and as Assistant Chapter Director for Newcastle Harley-Davidson was amazing in his planning.
My biggest thanks must go out to all those people who have given so generously in tough economic times and those who gave us such a fantastic welcome. When we arrived over the Tyne Bridge and rode down under police escort to the Quayside, it was a truly emotional experience. Everything we had tried to do, we had completed, and the turn-out was just amazing. We still have a way to go and hopefully now we can get to our £25,000 target.
